Alpine/British Blend
50% German Merino Landschaf
50% British Alpaca

The Merinolandschaf is the most widespread sheep breed in Germany, raised across the open landscapes of Swabia and Baden-Württemberg. Descended from Spanish Merinos first brought to Saxony in the 18th century, it produces a wool that sits between fine and medium; soft enough for knitwear, with a natural body and resilience that reflects its outdoor origins. It is a dual-purpose breed, raised for both meat and wool, and its fleece carries the honest character of an animal bred to work within a landscape rather than optimised for a single output.

On its own, the wool has character but limited fineness. Blended with British Alpaca, a fibre known for its lightness, warmth, and distinctive hairiness, the two materials balance each other: the wool provides structure and elasticity, the alpaca softens the handle and adds a natural, airy irregularity to the surface that no single-breed yarn can replicate.

The wool is washed at a specialist wool centre in Tyrol, where alpine fleeces have been processed for generations, before being spun into yarn at a small mill also based in the region. The yarn is available in four colours, of which two options are undyed.
