Austrian Wool
100% Jura
Raised in the limestone landscapes of the Austrian-German Jura, the Juraschaf developed in exposed pasture and demanding alpine conditions. Sheep that could handle rough terrain and shifting weather endured, and the wool reflects that reality. Its fleece sits in the medium-to-coarse range: robust, elastic, with natural loft. It holds its shape and is naturally insulating.
The fleece comes in a single natural brown; warm, undyed, carrying the variation of the animal rather than the consistency of a dye bath. It works well where colour is meant to recede and material comes forward.
This is not a yarn that competes with Merino on softness. It has different qualities, suited to different purposes; outerwear, mid-layer structure, textile work that benefits from weight and character.
Sourced from farms across Tyrol, washed at the last remaining wool scouring facility in Austria, and spun at one of the last active spinners in the region working with alpine breeds.
Available in a single limited batch for the season.
